The Dent County Commission met for a regular session on Thursday. The Courthouse was closed, and the commission held no session, on Monday due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. During the meeting, Dent County Clerk Angie Curley announced that a representative from Missouri Senator Roy Blunt’s office will be at the courthouse from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Feb. 3. Citizens who have business to bring to Sen. Blunt’s attention, or who would otherwise like to speak with his representative, are encouraged to visit the courthouse to share their thoughts.
•Dent County District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell and District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson both reported that crews were out plowing and grading slick spots after receiving 1-4 inches of snow early Thursday morning.
•Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that the Salem Area Community Betterment Association board meeting was postponed Monday evening to Jan. 26. Skiles also reported that he will attend an upcoming CCAM Board meeting in Jefferson City.
•After reflecting on the 2015 tentative county budget, the commission discussed the possibility of a Sales Tax question for the April Ballot to fund the Road and Bridge Department. No final decision will be made until Jan. 27.
•Dent County Assessor Tina Whitaker visited the commission to discuss a budget request.
•Lindsey Chaffin with Great Rivers Associates came in to sign the closure on the County Road 3210 bridge project.
•Kurt Faigle with 100 Acre Wood Rally came in to discuss potential routes for the upcoming event.
