The Dent County Commission met for its weekly meeting Monday, Dec. 22, and Monday, Dec. 29. In attendance included County Clerk Angie Curley, Presiding Commissioner Gary Larson, First District Commissioner Keith Green, and Second District Commissioner Jimmy Williams.
Bids were received for the additional bathroom within the Courthouse. One bid was submitted by Thomas Excavation at a total of $20,990. Marlow Van Vyk with the company explained the bid to the commissioners, and the commission agreed 3-0 to accept.
Denita Williams, treasurer, reported that the county received a total of $91,450.98 in CART funds, an increase YTD of 7.4%.
Derrick Marfitt, Emergency Management Director, discussed contracting with the county as a LLC. emergency services to perform county work. The commission agreed 3-0 to accept. A contract will be drafted up and run by legal counsel.
Jeff Benderet, Great River Engineering, updated the commission on the FLAP grants, FEMA bridge projects, and TAP grant. The commission agreed 3-0 for GRE to move forward with the design phase on 4210, along with the two other projects.
Alisa Brookshire, assessor, discussed her budget request for 2026.
The budget hearing for SB40 was amended due to the burning of their building. An insurance check was received. It will have more expenses. The commission agreed 3-0 to accept.
Curley reported that the deadline for filing for the April election is Dec. 30, today. Payroll and bills are to be approved.

Crew members will be out checking roads for debris following the strong winds.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members will be filling the ditch on County Road 2240. Crew members will also be checking roads for debris following the strong winds.

Crew members will be grading on county roads 5400 and 6430, brush cutting on County Road 5615, hauling rock on County Road 5400 and as needed. A sign will be installed on County Road 5130.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members will be grading on county roads 2140, 2130, 2120, and 4310; brush cutting on 2200; hauling rock to 4310 and 2140. A pipe is being worked on at the County Road 2240 and 2260 intersections.
