The Dent County Commission met for its regular meetings Thursday, Sept. 18 and Monday, Sept. 22. In attendance Thursday included First District Commissioner Keith Green, Second District Commissioner Jimmy Williams, and Deputy County Clerk Melissa Piatt. In attendance Friday was County Clerk Angie Curley, returning from a conference. Not in attendance was Presiding Commissioner Gary Larson.
Under public comments, Deloris Gray Wood shared that the 155th Celebration for the County Courthouse on Oct. 4 is really coming together.
Piatt and Curley reported that bills and payroll are to be approved. Curley reported that her conference last week with the Missouri Association of Counties went very well, with several great speakers in attendance. County clerks were able to hear from the state auditor, attorney, along with legislative updates on upcoming bills. Six senators were in attendance to speak with county clerks.
Resident Cindy Jones complimented Williams on crew members’ work on the low-water crossing on County Road 3210, completed last week.
Collector Shannon VanKirk shared that Assessor Alisa Brookshire has finalized SB190. Applicants will begin receiving emails from the ClearBasin software notifying them that their numbers have been verified.
Applicants will be receiving those emails, but there are no actions to be taken. This is finalization. “It’s all part of the process,” assured VanKirk.
District One Commissioner Keith Green
All road reports are weather dependent. Crew members are planning on grading county roads 4160 and 6470. Cutting brush is to be completed on County Road 5600. Backhoe work will be completed around the Montauk area.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Work is to be completed on several low water crossings. Crew members will be working on unclogging pipes. Brush cutting is planned for completion around the Lecoma area.
District One Commissioner Keith Green
The crew will be working down by Montauk, forming concrete stabilizing reinforcements for area roads.

The crew will be patching asphalt on County Road 3290 and 2200. Crew members will be working on chip and seal county roads, including 3290, 3240, and 3220.
