Amber Harrison Schwartz and Alderwoman Catherine Dent of the City of Salem’s subcommittee, Advocates for Animals, were welcomed at the most recent meeting of the Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club of Salem welcomed Amber Harrison Schwartz and Alderwoman Catherine Dent of Advocates for Animals, a subcommittee under the city’s Community Involvement Committee, as guest speakers at the meeting held Monday, Nov. 17. They gave a very informative talk about the overpopulation of cats in the City of Salem and Dent County.

There are approximately 450-500 stray cats per square mile, which have the potential to reproduce 10 times that many within a few years if not controlled. Schwartz and Dent need community involvement and donations to have a successful program. They currently work with Gabby Moore, DVM owner of Noah's Ark Veterinary Clinic in Salem, for spay and neuter services.
