According to a release from Salem Police Department:
• During the week of Feb. 18 to Feb. 24 there were 103 calls for service. Officers with the Salem Police Department conducted 13 traffic stops for various traffic violations, with two resulting in a summons or arrest. Officers conducted four informational reports. Of the calls for service and traffic stops, the following reports were generated.
• On Feb. 18 at approximately 3 p.m., an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop for improper registration. The vehicle failed to stop and led the officer on a short pursuit. Once stopped the driver refused to comply and continued to resist officers. As a result, a 44-year-old Salem male was arrested for resisting and interfering with a detention or stop and displaying plates of another.
• On Feb. 18 at around 6:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Walmart for a report of shoplifting and trespassing. It was reported that a male subject that was not allowed into the store had shoplifted approximately $50 worth of merchandise. After a short investigation, a 33-year-old Salem male subject was arrested and issued a summons for trespassing and shoplifting.
• During a call for service on Feb. 18 at around midnight, officers contacted a male subject who had an active warrant for his arrest. As a result, Derek McClain, 26, of Salem was arrested for a warrant out of the city of Salem for assault with the bond of $150. McClain later posted bond.
• On Feb. 22 at approximately 9:30 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop for nonfunctional brake lights. During the stop, officers found that the driver was acting suspicious. During a short investigation, consent to search the vehicle was obtained, and illegal narcotics were located. As a result, a 62-year-old West Plains male was arrested and incarcerated at the Dent County Jail on a 24-hour hold.
• On Feb. 23 at around 4 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter. It was reported that a male subject had stolen approximately $250 worth of merchandise. As a result, a 19-year-old Rolla male was arrested and issued summons for shoplifting.
• On Feb. 24 at approximately 3 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East Hawkins for a report of a domestic. After a short investigation it was found that a female subject was very intoxicated and acting disorderly, causing the disturbance. As a result, a 24-year-old Salem female was arrested and issued summons for Disorderly Conduct.
