Monthly sales tax continues to come in consistently higher than the same months last year, despite Department of Revenue withholdings affecting the year-to-date numbers, reported Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles.
The General Revenue and Law Enforcement sales tax funds each come in at $86,830 for July, which is 13.6% above July of last year; however, due to DOR withholdings earlier this year, the year-to-date revenue comes in $240,402.10 lower than the same period last year.
The Road and Bridge sales tax comes in at $41,671.85, which is up 14% for this July compared to last July. The Jail Trust and Jail operations fund sales taxes for July each come in at $83,344.91, which is 14% better than the same period last year.
Industrial Development Authority Board President Donald Dodd reported to the commission that longtime member of the board, Joan Sample, resigned on account of moving out of the area. Dodd presented the IDA Board’s recommendation that Jenna Deason be appointed to the board. The commission unanimously accepted the recommendation.
• District One Commissioner Wes Mobray reported that he has crews out to patch and grade county road 5400, to haul brush from along 6480, 6380, 4150,4155 and 4157 and to install two culverts along 6370.
• District Two Commissioner Gary Larson reported that he has crews out hauling brush along 3270,3273 and 3275. His crews borrowed a truck from district one to get oil from Springfield while truck #116 is being repaired. His crews will also be installing a four-foot drainage pipe along 3220.
• Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles mentioned in his report that the Ozark National Scenic Riverways Roads and Trails plan public comment period has been extended to Aug. 18.
“I want to encourage anyone who is interested in giving feedback on that to go to the website and follow the links to view the drafted plan,” said Skiles. A copy can also be found at the library. Skiles also reported that he will be attending a rural 9-1-1 addressing meeting at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory on Wednesday.
