The Dent County Commission met in regular session Thursday, Aug. 14 and Monday, Aug. 18. Those in attendance included Presiding Commissioner Gary Larson, District One Commissioner Keith Green, District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams, and Deputy County Clerk Melissa Piatt. Not in attendance Thursday was County Clerk Angie Curley.
Larson reported that he spoke with Jill Hollowell with MRPC on KSMO Radio regarding the solid waste collection on Sept 13 in Salem.

Curley attended the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) board in Jefferson City, where they discussed various topics including how newspapers are struggling in rural areas. Attendees heard from the Department of Mental Health on various programs in counties. They also heard from legislative consultant Trent Watson. Discussions surrounded the sheriff retirement, the property tax reform, and Senate Bill 190. Travis Elliot discussed the marijuana sales tax that counties and cities have passed, and the issues facing its execution.
A tax rate hearing was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, to set tax rates for general revenue, road and bridge, and the senior citizen’s fund, with the following rates set and approved:
• Senior Citizen’s fund, 0.0481%
• General revenue fund, 0.0397%
• Road and bridge fund, 0.2550%
District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members are grading county roads 4080, 5500, and 5440, and hauling rock where needed.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members are grading county roads 2140, 2155, and 5260. Crew members will also be hauling rock due to storm damage to County Road 5260. Cutting brush will be completed on County Road 2070.
District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members will be grading on county roads 5450, 5460, 5465, 5480, with rock hauled as needed. Brush cutting will be completed in the 5600 area. Patching will be completed on county roads 5080, 5085, and 5015.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members will be grading county roads 2120, 2130, 5260, 4400, and 4405; cutting brush on county roads 2075 and 2080; and hauling rock to 4405 and 2120. Grader blades will be changed on grader #42.
