The Dent County Commission met for its weekly meetings Monday, Nov. 3 and Thursday, Oct. 30. In attendance Monday included Presiding Commissioner Gary Larson, First District Commissioner Keith Green, Second District Commissioner Jimmy Williams, and County Clerk Angie Curley. In attendance Thursday were Larson, Green, Williams, and Deputy County Clerk Melissa Piatt.
Curley informed residents that no election will be held in Dent County in November. In addition, both Curley and Piatt shared that payroll and bills are to be approved.
County Collector Shannon Vankirk announced tax bills are being sent out, and that residents may pay them online at billpay.forte.net/dentcomotax.
Amanda Stites attended alongside partner Jeremy Stites, who requested information on the process of appointing Dent County Health Center board members, which commissioners informed is an elected position.
Resident Thom Haines informed commissioners that a Sunshine Law request he had submitted to the Dent County Sheriff’s Office for its social media policy had been denied. He had reached out to the Attorney General’s office, as well, and it had also denied his request.
District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members will be out grading county roads 6220, 6230, and 4220, and will be hauling rock to County Road 6220. Riprap will be taken to County Road 6510.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members will be out grading county roads 3080, 3090, 3100, 2530, 2520, and 2510. Cutting brush will be completed on County Road 2120 and hauling rock on county roads 3090 and 2590. The truck and road groomer are still receiving bids on Purple Wave.
District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members were cutting brush on County Road 5530, grading County Road 6010, and putting riprap on County Road 6010.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members were out grading county roads 5225, 2403, and 3050 and cutting brush on County Road 2120. County Road 2070 was opened back up for road work.
