Beginners Pottery Class Series
5-8 p.m.
PLEASE REGISTER to ensure supplies will be available. No walk-ins.
This workshop will introduce the basics of working with clay. You will be exposed to wheel-thrown pottery for a couple of weeks, and hand-building techniques using a slab roller and a clay extruder the other weeks. We will address the clay stages, terms and methods including wedging, scoring, centering, and various textures to create some functional or decorative pottery such as a mug, bowl, vase, plate, etc. One 25 lb. bag of clay will be included in the price of the class, as well as glazes and two firings. Additional bags of clay will cost $30, which will include the cost of glazes, and two firings for the additional pieces. Attendance will be important as new skills will be introduced each week. If necessary, one make-up class can be arranged. Minimum of four people and a maximum of six people for the class.
$180/person for four weeks of three-hour sessions (12 hours total). All equipment provided.

Beginners Guitar 8-Week Class Series
7-8 p.m.
Final registration ends Nov. 8. Taught by Michael Connors, this class is geared for students with a general knowledge of chords and who have had some experience playing the guitar. In this class you will go beyond the basics of guitar playing, learn some music theory, and even some songwriting tips! A performance event may be scheduled for you too! Cost: $320/ person- 8 weeks of classes (provide your own guitar). No refunds for missed sessions.

Seasonal Transfers with Rhonda Steelman
10 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Students receive a new Thanksgiving or holiday transfer, good for multiple projects and step-by-step instructions and all materials will be provided. A variety of transfer themes and supplies will be available on a first come basis. No reserve on a specific design before class starts. Not included: Candles, ribbon decorations. Paint splatters might happen, dress accordingly. Minimum six students, max 15-20. Ages 10 and above. Skill level is easy. Walk-ins welcome, but pre-registration is appreciated to be sure supplies are available. Time: 90 minutes. Two project options: Mini Breadboard or Lantern, $25; Glass jar or glass decoupage and transfer, $15.

Seasonal Ceramic Christmas Ornaments
10 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Beautiful handmade Christmas ornaments can be made in this two-day class, with the assistance of pottery instructor Connie Behrick. Clay, tools and acrylic paint or glazes will be available, or you may bring your own.
We will make the ornaments out of clay on the first day, let them dry, and bisque fire them for you in time to either paint with acrylic paints or glaze them on the 19th. Painted ornaments may be taken home, and glazed ornaments will be fired following the class and picked up Nov. 30. All in time to give as gifts or decorate your tree at home.
Cost: $25 per person (Children 11 and under may work with parents' supplies).
Includes two pounds of clay and acrylic paint (makes about 10 ornaments) Glazes will cost extra.

Arts Council Meeting

Everyone is invited to come plan classes and activities at the Arts Council. Instructors are expected to attend as much as possible.

Fall Harvest Paint 'N Sip
6:30-8:30 p.m.
Come join artist Danielle Norris as she leads you through a night of fun and painting! Bring your bestie and your favorite beverage and let's get ready for the fall season! Minimum of six, maximum of 30. $25- all supplies provided.

Community Jam Session
6:30-8:30 p.m.
No experience necessary. Bring your own instrument and play along with the crew, or just listen and tap your feet! Everyone is welcome and it is FREE entertainment!
Nov. 29
Beveled Stained Glass Class
1-4 p.m. or 4:30-7:30 p.m.
In this three-hour workshop, you will use some basic stained glass soldering techniques, and be introduced to the vocabulary and materials used while creating a beautiful snowflake designed piece. Stained glass artist Jennifer Curry will provide the professional materials and equipment, as well as the knowledge and instruction for you to have a successful and enjoyable experience. Minimum two people and maximum six per session. Cost: $50

• Advanced Pottery: Surface Decorations and Glazing, 5-8 p.m., through Nov. 21
This eight-week class will bring you to the next step when creating beautiful wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery; introducing you to surface decorations. This will be an aggressive series of classes and participants should be proficient in wheel-throwing and/or hand-building to have pieces to work with. Classes will include how to apply texture with rollers, stamps, sprigs, and fabrics; how to make your own stamps and sprigs, how to apply stencils; underglaze techniques; underglaze transfers; how to create your own underglaze transfers; how to use stains and washes to emphasize texture; slip trailing; inlay techniques; carving techniques used for Sgraffito and Mishima; Colors for Earth colors, Stroke-N-Coat Wonder glazes, and Majolica techniques; and glazing techniques for layering glazes, and more. Reservations are required to insure space and equipment for class. Minimum of four students, maximum of eight students.
Cost: $250, plus supplies and firings. No refunds for missed dates.
• Saturday Morning Open Studio; 10 a.m.-12 p.m. November Saturdays
Come see what is going on at the Creative Arts Center every Saturday morning in November. There will be vendors from the Farmers Market coming inside to sell their baked items, eggs, honey, etc. in the warmth of the Creative Arts Center, while we provide a kids’ craft table, ceramic painting, seasonal crafts, as well as open space for adults to work on projects they enjoy, such as knitting, crocheting, painting, digital art, drawing, quilting, etc. You can do all of this while enjoying the company of others and there will be an arts council member available to facilitate. An adult must accompany any child under the age of 12. Cost is $5/person. The cost for ceramics painting is marked on the individual selected pieces. These are non-ticketed events; please bring applicable cash for attendance and/or purchase available materials priced as marked.
• November Pottery Open Studio; 6-9 p.m. Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
This open studio is intended for experienced potters who have had previous instruction on the potter's wheel and/or hand-building techniques, seeking practice time. Reserve a wheel by paying online- first come first serve. Participants will have access to the potter’s wheels and other pottery equipment and tools and have a professional potter available for supervision and to answer questions. This is not a class. Participants will need to bring their own clay or buy it from the center. Cost is $20 per evening to attend.

All ticket purchases are non-refundable. If the event is rescheduled, all purchases will be honored for the next event date. If the event is canceled, all purchases will be refunded in full. The Creative Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class or party at any time due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

There will be an additional $5 charge if paid at the door at the time of event, if seating is available. For the month of November, all credit card processing and ticket fees are waived!
