According to a report from the Salem Police Department:
During the week of Aug. 19 to Aug. 25 there were a total of 137 calls for service. Officers with the Salem Police Department conducted 27 traffic stops for various traffic violations with six resulting in a summons or arrest. Officers conducted four traffic accident investigations along with two informational reports. Of the calls for service and traffic stops, the following reports were generated.
• On Aug. 19 at approximately 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of west First Street for a domestic disturbance. The disturbance was caused by an argument between intoxicated people. One of the people involved damaged the front door of the residence. As a result, a 41-year-old Salem female was arrested for property damage and later released on summons.
• On Aug. 19 at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of west Ninth Street for a report of a disturbance. Officers arrived and found an extremely intoxicated and belligerent female causing a scene. Contact was made with the female and as she was being taken into custody, she attempted to resist officers continuing to be belligerent. As a result, the 52-year-old Salem female was arrested and incarcerated at the Dent County Jail.
• On Aug. 24, officers took two reports of shoplifting at Walmart where subjects were observed to have stolen items from the store. After investigation, two subjects, a 19-year-old male and 44-year-old female of Salem were arrested and issued summons for shoplifting.
