Corky Stack attended Thursday’s Dent County Commission meeting to present an engineering report he was hired by the county to provide. According to Stack, the group is almost ready to begin soliciting bids for contractors. These bids will be due by June 22 at 10 a.m. when the commission will meet for a special meeting to open sealed bids. Stack said that he would have time to prepare a recommendation by the following day, so that the board can select a bid during the regular Thursday meeting. Stack told the commission that he would reach out to the newspaper to publish the appropriate notices.
Also at Thursday’s meeting:
• The board voted to fill the vacancy on the Dent County Health Center Board of Directors—follow link.
• The board opened sealed bids for new security cameras at 10 a.m. They received a $10,175 bid from Wave Internet Solutions and a $19,945 bid from Rommel’s Lock and Alarm. The commission unanimously selected Rommel because, according to Skiles, “It more nearly fit the bid specifications.” Wave’s bid did not include all of the requested items and breakdowns of service.
• District One Commissioner Wes Mobray reported that he has crews grading and hauling rock on county roads 6580, 6430 and 6435. On Monday, Mobray reported that he has crews out grading county roads 5550 and 6580 as well as grading and patching county roads 4210 and 4220 after more than two-and-a-half inches of rain fell in that area—he also has crews out hauling material to county roads 6580, 4210 and 4220.
• District Two Commissioner Gary Larson reported that he has crews grading county roads 4030, 3330, 3337, 2600 and 2590—according to Larson, the county is trying to get cemetery roads ready for Memorial Day. Larson also stated that he has crews hauling rock to county roads 2530 and 2540. They are also in possession of a new dump truck. On Monday, Larson reported that he has crews grading county roads 3180, 3120, 3130, 3090 and 3100 as well as hauling material to county roads 2320 and 2540 related to the Missouri Department of Conservation rock contract.

• Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he attended a Salem Area Community Betterment Association awards event last week; he also attended an Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Executive Board meeting.
Skiles mentioned that he has been discussing with Sheriff Bob Wells regarding soliciting bids for the Sheriff’s Office to acquire a UTV. The commission voted 3-0 to solicit sealed bids due back 10 a.m. June 6.
