On Jan. 21, the Salem Police Department received a request from a partnering law-enforcement agency for assistance in locating a wanted fugitive.
Patrolman #114, Detective #106, and Lieutenant #103, along with deputies from the Dent County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, responded to a residence in the 700 block of South Pershing Avenue.
The subject, identified as Justin McCormick, was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident.
At the time of his arrest, McCormick was wanted on the following outstanding warrants.
• Assault in the First Degree
• Violence to an Employee of the Department of Corrections or an Inmate
McCormick was transported to the Dent County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
The successful apprehension of the suspect was the result of a coordinated effort between the Licking Police Department, St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office, Salem Police Department, Dent County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
