During the week of Jan. 20 to Jan. 26 there were a total of 91 calls for service. Officers with the Salem Police Department conducted four traffic stops for various traffic violations with three resulting in a summons or arrest. Officers conducted three traffic accident investigations along with four informational reports. Of the calls for service and traffic stops, the following reports were generated:
• at approximately 2 p.m. Jan. 20 officers responded to a male subject that was acting under the influence near the intersection of First and Warfel streets. After investigating, the male subject was found to be in possession of capsules suspected to be fentanyl. As a result, a 37-year-old Salem male was incarcerated at the Dent County Jail.
• at approximately 6 p.m. Jan. 20 officers were dispatched to the Truman Trailer Court for a report of an out-of-control subject. Officers arrived and investigated the situation. As a result, a 39-year-old Salem male was found to be uncooperative and under the influence. The male subject was placed on a 12-hour safekeep.
• at approximately 4 p.m. Jan. 21 an officer concluded an investigation into shoplifting from Walmart on more than one occasion. During the investigation it was found the male subject had been previously charged and trespassed from Walmart. As a result, a 44-year-old Salem male was arrested and issued summons for burglary first degree.
• at approximately 12 p.m. Jan. 22 officers arrested 24-year-old Deseray Fish of Salem for an active capias warrant for her arrest. Fish was incarcerated at the Dent County Jail.
• at approximately 3 p.m. Jan. 25 officers responded to an accident involving a school bus. It was reported that one vehicle crossed the center turn lane near the intersection of Center and Missouri Highway 19 and struck the school bus which was able to get stopped and sound its horn. Further investigation was conducted, and it was found the operator of the vehicle was intoxicated. As a result, a 56-year-old Salem female was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold pending the application of warrants. No injuries were reported or apparent in the crash.
