The Dent County Health Center Board of Trustees met June 20 for its monthly meeting. In attendance were Bob Parsons, Bob Gravely, Dennis Floyd, Lori Hasten, and Carol Lacy. Roma Jones and Zach Moser were present as staff.
Moser announced there will be a lead poisoning town hall meeting open to the public scheduled 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Armory. There will also be a safety day June 21 at Walmart. He recapped that the theme of summer is “sun safety”, and DCHC donated sunscreen to the SMH golf tournament and gave out free sunscreen at the Chamber expo. Moser also discussed progress on the strategic plan.
DCHC financial reports for May, including the review from H&R block, were reviewed. Current Assets on May 31 were $1,080,223.90.
Total assets were $1,782,130.53, total liabilities were $183,705.59, and equity was $1,598,424.94. Revenue for May was $95,793.82, expenses were $136,105.76, for a net operating revenue of -$40,311.94. After other revenue and expenses, net revenue was -$41,896.54.
Gravely moved to approve the financial reports, and the report from H&R Block. Floyd seconded. The motion carried.
In new business, the draft of the Financial Audit was presented. Gravely moved to approve the report. Floyd seconded, and the motion carried.

In communicable diseases:
• COVID-19 – 21 cases were reported. A new COVID strain is circulating.
• Sexually transmitted infections – 37 screening encounters, and 40 total tests conducted
• Avian flu – there is an outbreak of avian flu in dairy cattle that has spread to some humans, but at this time it is not spreading from human to human. Texas DOH and CDC are monitoring the situation.
• No COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered
• Influenza vaccine – 5 doses administered
• 98 other vaccines were given, including the new RSV vaccine and new formulations of pneumonia vaccine
All appointments other than WIC totaled 496.

In lab draws, there was a total of 253 individual patients. There were three pregnancy tests, and 11 lead tests.
Jones presented an environmental report, stating there were five total inspections and 31 environmental questions answered during the month.
In maternal-child health, one CPR course was conducted, and one childcare health consultation was conducted. Title X had 13 appointments, and WIC had 304 appointments.
The next regular board meeting date was set for 5 p.m. July 18.
