The Salem Community Center @ the Armory is offering a hands-on Self-Defense Workshop designed to help participants feel safer and more confident in their everyday lives. The class will be offered twice, giving attendees two options to attend the same training:
• 5:30–7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19
• 10:00–11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22
Both sessions will be led by Instructor Kris Bieker and held at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory. The cost is just $5 per person, payable at the door.
This empowering class is open to men, women, and seniors—no fitness level or prior experience is required. Participants will learn simple self-defense techniques that anyone can perform, along with practical safety tips for home, shopping, and daily activities. The workshop also focuses on building awareness to help avoid danger before it starts.
“Self-defense isn’t about fighting—it’s about feeling safe and walking with confidence,” said instructor Kris Bieker. “Everyone deserves to feel prepared and empowered.”
• Basic self-defense movements and techniques
• Situational awareness and prevention strategies
• Confidence-building skills for everyday safety
