The Dent County Commission met on Monday for its regularly scheduled meeting. County collector Shannon Vankirk stopped by to inform the media that 2019 delinquent property taxes are due by June 30. After July 1, all three years will need to be paid according to office policy.
Also at the Monday meeting:
• District one commissioner Wes Mobray reported that crews will be grading county roads 5015, 6670 and 6240 and hauling brush from along County Road 6660. Mobray also has someone headed to Springfield to pick up chip and seal.
• For district two Travis Turner, supervisor, reported in commissioner Gary Larson’s absence; he has crews hauling material and grading county roads 2110, 2135 and 3180 and hauling brush from along county roads 2303 and 2270.
• Presiding commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he has been attending several meetings in the past week, including the Meramec Regional Planning Commission Transportation Advisory Committee where the group discussed the largest-ever Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. The draft for fiscal year 2023-2027 can be viewed on the MoDOT website.
• Skiles also reported that MoDOT plans to begin resurfacing the whole of Hwy. 72 between Salem and Rolla on June 20.
• County Clerk Angie Curley reported that she attended the Missouri Southeast Central Region County Clerks Association meeting. She also wanted to remind people that the courthouse will be closed Monday in honor of Juneteenth.
