A Salem man was apprehended late Wednesday evening by law enforcement after being on the run for two days.
Brian L. Weber, 39, bonded out May 17, then “cut off the ankle bracelet and ran,” said Major Len Pabin of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office.
Weber got into a vehicle and was pursued by a bondsman. The chase began in city limits, then continued down Doss Road, where Weber wrecked his car and ran into the woods, said Pabin.
That’s when the bondsman fired shots in Weber’s direction, Pabin said. The shots fired took place before law enforcement arrived on scene, Pabin added.
According to Pabin, multiple law enforcement agencies responded and began searching the immediate area utilizing a K-9 unit.
Dent County Prosecuting Attorney Andrew Curley said he recommended Weber not be released on bail. However, the court set a $500,000 bond, which Weber covered through a bond company, promptly removed his ankle bracelet and fled.
Weber was originally arrested in connection to allegedly stabbing a victim found the bleeding on Dent County Road 2400, according to documents filed in circuit court.
Weber was charged with felony counts of first-degree assault resulting in serious injuries and armed criminal action.
