The Dent County Commission met Monday in the Dent County Courthouse.
Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles, during his report, reminded the commission and the public that the commission will not meet Monday because commissioners will be attending the Missouri Association of Counties annual meeting, and the commission will not meet Nov. 24 due it being Thanksgiving Day. County offices will be closed Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 in observance of the holiday.
Skiles also reported that Patrick Stites from the Meramec Regional Planning Commission contacted him regarding setting a time to meet about the county’s hazard mitigation plan. The commission unanimously voted to set the meeting for 1 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory.
The commission also unanimously voted for Stan Podorski and Dave Nichols to serve on the Law Enforcement Restitution Plan committee.
Skiles also mentioned that he had received information that the Office of Broadband Development and regional planning commissions will be meeting regarding broadband in the region. The meeting is scheduled 10 a.m. Thursday at The Centre in Rolla.
District One Commissioner Wes Mobray reported that he has crews grading county roads 5070, 6040 and 5420, cutting brush on 6240, and continuing Title II work for the U.S. Forest Service on 5600.
District Two Commissioner Gary Larson reported that he has crews grading 2530, 2540 and 2550, hauling rock to 2200, 2050 and 2030, as well as mounting the snowplow on truck No. 116.
Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that the Nov. 8 election ran smoothly with a 59.8% voter turnout. Curley stated that 601 people had voted absentee prior to election day.
