The Dent County Fire Protection District’s Board of Directors held a meeting at the firehouse in Salem on June 13. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m., preceding the roll call. Members present were Craig Smith, David Greenshields, Mike Godi, and Leigh Ann Price.
A motion to approve the consent agenda was passed by a 4-0 vote, before the agenda was also approved by a 4-0 vote.
The board reviewed the calendar before a monthly reimbursement report was presented. A total of 34 calls were reported for the month of May, with 141 total calls for the year.
During old business, it was reported that the insurance company had approved the replacement of a radio repeater that was damaged during spring storms. The repeater has been ordered, however, the minutes report that it is still 30 weeks out for delivery, and then it will need to be installed. Currently, the fire district is working with a repaired repeater.
The minutes report that an ARPA grant is “still in the works”.
With no new business, the meeting moved on to the Chief’s report. Fire Chief Brad Nash reported that Engine 85 is still awaiting parts, due to arrive soon.
Nash also reported that three firefighters who were not meeting requirements were terminated in accordance with policies and procedures, as well as “officer’s review and recommendation”.
The date for the next board meeting was set for July 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the firehouse.
