It looks and feels like it’s winter outside. We have had 18 degrees to 25 degrees in the mornings this week. I am not ready for this.
Our Thanksgiving was a very quiet one. Mel and I got a dinner from His Place and enjoyed it very much. We waited in line in our truck and they brought it out to us. It didn’t take us very long to get it. We got a plate for Joann and took it to her. It was almost more than what we could eat and was really good.
Karen and Mike came down that evening and Tam and Trey came Saturday and stayed until Monday. We had a good meal Saturday when Frank and Carla came down. This week has been a good easy one.
Frank came down Wednesday and Mel and Frank butchered chickens. I think they got rid of about 14 of our older hens. Mel said he wants more chicken and dumplings now. I fixed a big pot of them Saturday for our dinner with the kids. They were all gone. I also fixed two Pecan pies and three, 8x10 pans of bread pudding. That was all gone. One of our neighbors brought us a pumpkin pie and that didn’t last very long. Another neighbor brought us some blackberry pie today for our dinner. We just finished it off. I thought about fixing something for this weekend but I think Mel and I have had enough sweets for a while.
We didn’t have all the kids here for Thanksgiving because of COVID. It looks like we won’t have our big Christmas either. Our two Granddaughters in Oklahoma can’t leave the state because of working in the hospitals there. If they leave, they have to quarantine for two weeks without pay. They wanted to come here with us for Christmas but I guess that is out now. Our son in Arizona wants to come in but doesn’t know for sure if he will get to do that now either. We want them to be safe and we will just have to Facetime them at Christmas.
Our community is doing okay at the present time. Just the usual aches and pains.
Our hearts go out to the family of the six-year-old boy that drowned last Sunday at the low water bridge on Hwy. TT. They are in our prayers.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy this weather.
God bless America and remember our troops and their families. Please remember to keep our country and leaders in your prayers.
