The Dent County Fire Protection District Board of Directors met Jan. 16.
The meeting for Jan. 9 was canceled due to inclement weather.
Members present were Craig Smith, David Greenshields, Liz Gruendel, Mike Godi, and Dr. Leigh Ann Price.
A financial report was reviewed with an ending balance of $185,138.72 as of December 31. This does include a part of next year's tax money that was received earlier in December.
Firefighter equipment was 289 percent over budget due to the replacement gear from insurance and gear purchased with grant money. The truck section of the budget is over due to Engine 85 motor replacement.
Treasurer Dave Wells stated that at this time, with not all bills in, it appears that approximately $69,000.00 will be carried over from the 2023 budget.
Sarah Montoya was reviewed and passed by the Officers Board to join the fire department as a firefighter. The board of directors will interview at the next scheduled meeting for a final decision.
Interim Chief Dennis Floyd reported that he met with Sentinel Emergency Solutions to check truck prices and SCBA packs for the department. The pricing is being sent for review.
A monthly reimbursement report was presented with a total of 18 calls for the month and 18 total calls for the year (January). Calls totaled six fire; four medical; three cancelled; two other (training); one utility problem; one alarm; and one HazMat.

Engine 85 is being refitted and parts are being used on other trucks. It is still not back in service.
The next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 13 at the fire station.
