Are there dangers lurking in your medicine cabinet? Unused prescription medications can fall into the wrong hands, and lead to addiction or overdose. Flushing the medications down the toilet is harmful to the water supply. To keep everyone safe, bring your unused/expired medications to the Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 28 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lots of both Walmart and Country Mart, both on Scenic Rivers Blvd/Hwy. 32. Look for a friendly Healthy Dent County Prevention Coalition member assisted by our local police and sheriff's staff to accept your bag of medications, which are then safely disposed of. Can't make it to either location on Oct. 28? Permanent medication disposal drop boxes are located at either the Salem Police Department lobby at 500 N. Jackson St., or at the Dent County Sheriff's Department lobby at 112 E. 5th St., #7, Salem. See you there!

John Hewkin has been a sports fan since he was a kid. He’s played, coached and been a fan of sports. I was a sports writer for 15 years before moving back to Missouri, but to this day you will still find me in my man cave a lot of nights and weekends watching something that requires a ball.
