The following is information regarding a recent arrest by the Salem Police Department:
On Nov. 30, Patrolmen #113, # 116 and Sergeant #105 of the Salem Police Department responded to the 100 block of South Jackson Street for a reported burglary.
Upon arrival, officers determined a suspect, Joshua Wheeler. It was discovered in the course of the investigation that multiple items including a firearm had been stolen from the residence. Officers spoke with witnesses, victims and possible suspects and left pending further investigation.
On Dec. 3, Patrolman #114 and Sergeant #105 conducted a follow up investigation. As a result of the investigation, Wheeler was arrested and transported to the Dent County Jail for questioning. As a result, Wheeler was incarcerated pending formal charges.
A probable cause statement was filed with the Dent County Prosecutor. Prosecutor Andrew Curley filed a Felony Complaint in the Circuit Court of Dent County.
The Honorable Judge Kelsaw issued a $25,000 CASH/SURETY BOND warrant for the following:
• Burglary 2nd Degree
• Stealing FIREARM/EXPLOSIVE/AMMO
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
