As drought creeps across Missouri, farmers feel the effects. Pastures become short, and hay feeding crosses the minds of cattle farmers. A no-fee workshop on Farm Management Through Drought, is offered in three nearby counties.
Gatlin Bunton, agronomy specialist in Crawford County explains, “The ongoing drought through much of southern Missouri presents challenges and opportunities for producers".
Per Bunton, the drought can be an opportunity to learn methods to add resilience to your operation. He adds that with each negative event, there is always a positive.
MU Extension agronomy and livestock field specialists will cover topics for drought situations, including: livestock decisions and feeding; forage management; toxins to watch; money considerations, management and solutions; and planning for future events.
