At approximately 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, an offender at South Central Correctional Center (SCCC) in Licking, Missouri, entered a staff office inside a housing unit and took a clerical staff member hostage. Emergency protocols were initiated, and the Missouri Department of Corrections began working with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement to reach a resolution.
At 1 p.m., the offender released the staff member without incident or injury. The staff member was immediately debriefed and provided with trauma support services.
