Kiwanis Field hosted an inspiring scene on May 8 during a junior varsity soccer game between Rolla and Jefferson City. Emma Calvert, the Rolla team’s senior team manager with Down’s Syndrome, was welcomed on the field by both teams. Everyone cheered as she scored a goal with a smile on her face.

“Emma has been supporting Rolla soccer since she was little,” said Matt Calvert, Rolla’s coach and Emma’s older brother. “She grew up watching her brothers play on that field and then was out there as a manager herself. Getting to put the jersey on and get on that field herself was something she had been preparing for for years. Emma told her coaches she would score goals when she got out there, and that's exactly what she did.”
