Salem lost a match at home to St. Clair Monday night 25-17, 25-23. In junior varsity action the Lady Tigers lost 25-9, 25-22.
“We played a tight game with St. Clair,” said coach Ellie Howard. “I saw a lot of good things in our play, good passes, digging hard hits, blocks, sets and kills. I am now looking for consistency.”
Salem is now 4-10. The four wins are the most since the Lady Tigers earned three wins in 2011.
“Although it is still not a winning record, it is something this team, this school, and this community should recognize and be proud of,” said Howard. “As the coach, I am.
“As a team we play very well and then have moments where we let up, which loses us games. We are now trying to learn how to not let up, but push through the whole game for the win.”
Londyn Cook led in kills with five, followed by Faith Roberts and Baylee Bilyeu with three each.
Madi Keith led in assists with six, followed by Makayla Cahill with five. Kirsten Golden led with six digs, followed by Emily Nash and Madi Shaw with four each. Roberts and Bilyeu each had two aces, and Roberts and Bailey Martin each had a block.
