The Salem Tigers finished third in the SCA Golf Tournament, held Monday, April 28 at the Houston Municipal Golf Course.
Willow Springs repeated as SCA team champion, shooting 325. Ava finished runner-up while Salem was third. The Tigers finished 22 strokes off the lead, carding 347.
Sophomore Blayne Altermatt of Willow Springs was individual meet medalist, shooting 3-over-par 75.
Salem freshman Aiden Summers was individual medalist runner-up, shooting 79 to earn All-SCA first team honors.
The Tigers’ Atticus Givens finished eighth overall individually with 84 to earn all-conference second-team honors.
Also for Salem, Everett Campbell shot 88, Gunner Mahurin 96 and Bryce Martin 114.
This week the Tigers are to compete in the Willow Springs Open Monday then participate in the Missouri Class 3 District 1 Tournament Friday at Crown Pointe Golf Course in Farmington.
Other schools in District 1 include host Park Hills Central, Cuba, Dexter, Doniphan, Fredericktown, Herculaneum, Kennett, Cape Notre Dame, Owensville, Perryville, Potosi, St. Clair, St. Francis Borgia, St. James, Ste. Genevieve and Sullivan.
The top two teams and other 12 individuals move on from District 1 to the Class 3 State Tournament, to be held May 19-20 at Twin Hill Golf Course in Joplin.
