Thursday, Sept. 28 vs. Cabool

Salem seventh grade won 44-0 vs. Cabool at home Thursday night. Seventh grade moves to 4-0 with four shutouts in those matchups. The Salem Tiger run game was too much for the Cabool Bulldogs in this one. Keegan Grunden had two touchdown runs and two, two-point conversions. Tripp Creek added two touchdowns and had himself a two-point conversion. Jacob Gover got in on the action as well with a pair of touchdowns with a 44-yard run and a 25-yard run. Our QB Nick Ferreira scored on another two-point conversion for the Tigers. Our offensive line, fullback and tight ends opened up the holes and our backs really came to play in this one. This new offense has really been effective for our middle school program. On the defensive side of the ball nothing came easy as Salem held Cabool scoreless. Drake Smith, Lucas Jennings, Malijah Rice, Gregory Sapaugh, and Westyn Ragsdale on the defensive line really plugged the running game and didn’t give Cabool any time to throw. Backers Colby Malone, Tripp Creek and Keegan Grunden made play-after-play on defense. Our secondary Nick Hardecke, Jacob Pipp, Dash Halbrook and Emmitt Ranzini didn’t allow much or anything in the pass game. Overall, it was a great game for the Tigers and we executed really well. The 4-0 Tigers face the toughest challenge facing undefeated Houston on Thursday night.
