Salem boys finished third in the weather-shortened St. James Open, held April 1.
The Tigers were just one point off the team lead. Rolla and St. Clair tied for first place with 42 points each while Salem was third with 41.
Earning second places for the Salem boys were Trae Parsons in the shot put at 39-7 ¼; the 4x100-meter relay squad at :45.98, and the 4x200-meter relay team at 1:40.03.
Tiger third places came from Alexander Diehl in the 1,600-meter run at 5:15.53; Matthew Koontz in the 110-meter hurdles at :22.28; Reuben Hovey in the discus at 108-5 ¼, and the 4x800-meter relay team at 9:19.20.
The Lady Tigers finished sixth in the team standings with 12 points. Salem had a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter dash at :57.12 and a third-place finish from Rebekah Pipp in the 100-meter dash at :14.81.
This week the Tigers were scheduled to host the Salem Invitational Tuesday (2 p.m.) and compete at Owensville Thursday (2:30 p.m.).
