What's one event that combines fun frights, a good cause, and a bag full of candy? If you guessed the Creepy Crawly Walk, you're right! This fundraiser was on October 30th from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the Tiger Trail at the Upper Elementary, hosted by Salem Senior High School Rotary Interact Club for the Salem Chapter of the Rotary Club, and offered guests a mix of spooky fun and community spirit. For just $5 admission, participants could enjoy a not-so-scary trick-or-treat trail and, if they're brave enough, the bone-chilling haunted trail—as many times as they dared. As president of the Salem Senior High School Rotary Interact Club, I had the opportunity to organize this event, and although it was exhausting, seeing it all come together was incredibly rewarding.
Before the event, I had to make sure everything was ready for the big day. As the organizer, I was responsible for securing permission to use the trail, recruiting volunteers, mapping the routes, creating flyers, and finding a sponsor to provide lighting. When the planning finally seemed complete, I felt a massive sense of relief—until the week before the Creepy Crawly Walk, when more than ten volunteers backed out of their roles. Suddenly, I was scrambling to fill positions and reorganize tasks. Although the last-minute changes were stressful, I learned how to stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly when things didn't go as planned. In the end, the event ran smoothly, and the experience taught me the importance of flexibility and leadership in making an idea come to life.
