The question you need to ask anytime a Republican says they're doing something to help poor people or working people is, "How does it benefit the wealthy?"
Case in point, the new so-called Trump Accounts. These are being presented as a way to help the needy with paying for their children's future college expenses.
The truth is much simpler. They are designed as a tax shelter to benefit people with disposable income that you don't have.
A simple analysis shows, a working family that signs up for the $1,000 initial investment, but who struggles to contribute to the account will only see their child’s account grow by around $700 after 18 years. But, a child whose family is wealthy enough to contribute the full $5,000 per year into the account will see a growth of around $150,000.
That's six figures of tax sheltered income for the wealthy and seven hundred bucks for poor folks.
Just remember anytime you hear Trump or Representative Jason Smith bragging about how they're helping the poor or working families - it's all just a scam to benefit rich folks.
