Funeral service for James “Jim” Shelby Barton was July 16, 2012 at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel, Summersville, with Rev. Gary Steelman officiating.
Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Mr. Barton was born December 5, 1928 in Mountain View to George Shelby and Effie Vida Younger Barton. He married Beverly Ann Hogan June 21, 1975. They were the parents of two children. James brought to their marriage two sons. Mr. Barton died July 13, 2012 in Springfield at the age of 83 years.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Barton, Jadwin; children, Shane Barton and wife, Courtney, Rochester, N.Y.; Sara Barton, Springfield; James “Jay” Barton, Salem; and Larry Barton, Farmington; grandchildren, Stella and Hannah Barton; three brothers, Floyd Barton and wife, Betty, Birch Tree; Glenn Barton and wife, Claudette, Excelsior Springs; and Clyde Barton and wife, Carolyn, Carthage; three sisters, Genevieve Patterson, Marmaduke, Ark.; Edna Caine and husband, Everette, Park Hills; Betty Cook and husband, Charles, Birch Tree; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenny Enloe and wife, Jeannie, Hartshorn; Shirley Tabor and husband, Carl, West Plains; Wilma Stark and husband, Roger, Summersville; Brenda Shelton, Summersville; Dennis Hogan, Summersville; Sharon Hogan, Salem; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Walter Barton, Claude Barton and Lloyd Barton; two sisters, Louise Grandstaff and Edith Gall; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Alta Hogan; and brother-in-law, William Hogan.
Mr. Barton served in the United States Army.
