Funeral service for Johnnie “John” Wayne Lay was October 20, 2021 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Doug Givens officiating.
Interment was in Greeley Cemetery, Bunker.
Pallbearers were Dustin Lay, Rick Crane, Randy Gross, Ronnie Ruppel, Doug Givens and Chuck Croxton. Honorary pallbearer was Carter Layne Lipscomb.
Mr. Lay was born August 20, 1952 in St. Louis to John Hiley and Virgia Bernice (Rosa) Lay. He married Cindy Gross June 23, 1973. They were the parents of one daughter. He later married Faye Melear September 30, 1991. They were the parents of one son. Mr. Lay died October 14, 2021 in St. Louis at the age of 69 years.
Survivors include his children, Jennifer Lipscomb and husband, Cory, Bridgeton; and Dustin Lay and wife, Briana, Salem; grandchildren, Carter Lipscomb, Makenna Lay and Lola Lay; brother-in-law, Donnie James, Tyrone; ex-wives and dear friends, Cindy Gross Lay and Faye Melear; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Wanda Hudson Crawford and Beverly James; and infant sister, Barbara Jean Lay.
