Funeral service for Kenneth D. “K.D.” Swiney, of Bunker, was March 6, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Bunker, with Pastor Tom Wisdom officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem.
Interment was in the Swiney Cemetery, Bunker.
Pallbearers were Luke Swiney, Lane Swiney, Kyle Triplett, Tyler Triplett, Brandon Biele, Lacy Graham and Jessica Brown. Honorary pallbearers were J.D. Martin and Dave Lyvers.
Mr. Swiney was born February 8, 1931 on Sinkin Creek to Ed D. and Cebe (Bay) Swiney. He married Belinda Jackson February 10, 1951. They were the parents of four children. Mr. Swiney died March 2, 2016 in Salem at the age of 85 years.
Survivors include his wife, Belinda Swiney, Bunker; children, Kenneth W. Swiney and wife, Phyllis, Bunker; Debbie Martin and husband, J.D., Tuscumbia; Patricia Lyvers and husband, Dave, Franklin, N.C.; and Dan Swiney and wife, Becky, Bunker; sisters, Lily Dale Sutton, Salem; Faye Crocker, Poplar Bluff; sisters-in-law, Sue Morse and husband, Jim, Florissant; Helen Jackson, Salem; and Emily Swiney, Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, Kevin Triplett; great-grandson, Kirk O’Dell; brothers, Ed Swiney, Lewis Swiney, Albert Swiney and Kirby Swiney; sisters, Themel Swiney, Elizabeth Sutton and Elsa Day.
Mr. Swiney was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Bunker. He was a past member of the Bunker Saddle Club and the Bunker Masonic Lodge.
