Funeral service for James Clarence Chilton was September 24, 2021 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Pastor Bill Stack officiating and Gary Chilton sharing the eulogy.

Interment was in the Miner Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Plank, Larry Chilton, Carter Chilton, Carl Conway, Tommy McDaniel and Wendell Schmitt. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Chilton, Jimmy Walker and John Roller.
Mr. Chilton was born July 29, 1950 in Salem. He died September 20, 2021 in Salem at the age of 71 years.
Survivors include his siblings, Marilyn Redman; Gary Chilton and wife, Beulah; and Faye Koper and husband, Butch; brother-in-law, Carl Plank; nephews, Mike, John, Brian, Keith, Larry and Michael; nieces, Dee Dee, Rita, Treasa, Lisa and Shelly; and a host of extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Oscar Chilton; mother, Thelma Chilton Myers; sisters, Dorothy West and husband, Kenneth; Glenda Plank; infant sister, Shirly Chilton; brother-in-law, Jack Redman; nephew, Doug West; and great-niece, Chelsea Nickles.
