Funeral service for Louie Edward Roberts was August 21, 2014 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Bro. Larry Nash officiating. A eulogy was given by Phillip Moser.

Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Scott Roberts, Scotty Roberts, Zachary Moser, Phillip Moser, Larry Roberts and Joe Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Wells, Rick Stallings, Wayne Baker, Roger Wells and Mike Thompson.
Mr. Roberts was born June 10, 1922 in Salem to Thomas Mattison and Alberta Helen (Hayes) Roberts. He married Irene Chrisco October 18, 1941. Later he married Delores M. Williams October 17, 2001. Mr. Roberts died August 17, 2014 in Columbia at the age of 92 years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Roberts, Salem; children, Howard Roberts, Springfield; David Roberts and wife, Diana, Salem; and Jackie Stewart and husband, Joe, Winchester, Tenn.; grandchildren, Susan Farr and husband, Kevin, Marshfield; Kimberly Moser and husband, Dee, Jadwin; Laurel Cottingham and husband, Andy, Hanceville, Ala.; Scott Roberts and wife, Tish, Farmington; Buffy Young and husband, Ronnie, Jefferson City; Mandi Schafer, Salem; and Daniel Malone, Louisiana state; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Irene; sisters, Maxine Major and Murl Nie; brothers, Arlen, Wilbur, Orben and Carl Roberts; grandchildren, Trevor Waugh, Jason Gilmore, Maria, Melinda and Melissa Roberts.
Mr. Roberts was a teacher and principal in the Dent County Rural Schools, and was the first pastor of the Second Baptist Church. He was also the organizer of the Monarchs Baseball Team in Salem and served one term as Mayor for the City of Salem. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church and a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge #225.
