Funeral service for Rev. James Donivan Walker was February 16, 2019 at Lighthouse Assembly Church, Salem, with Minister Cheri Chang officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary, Salem.
Music was provided by Rachel Lambert.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem.
Pallbearers were Cody Gammon, Billy Usery, Jr., Landon Cook, Nolan Swank, Dillon Cook and Logan Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Gabriel Chang, Jace Walker, Billy Usery Sr., Jimmy Walker III and Nathan Bailey.
Rev. Walker was born June 15, 1928 in Knox County to James Elwin and Hazel Fern (Golbricht) Walker. He married Mildred Nadine Martin September 23, 1956. They were the parents of three children. Rev. Walker died February 10, 2019 in Salem at the age of 90 years.
Survivors include his children, Jim Walker and wife, Rita, Salem; and Cheri Chang, Salem; brother, Earl Walker, Palmyra; grandchildren, Billy Usery; Melissa Usery; Kimberly Cook and husband, Chad; Jimmy Walker; and Gabriel Chang; great-grandchildren, Sierra Todd, Cody Gammon, Cooper Davis, Billy Usery, Katelynn Usery, Kayla Usery, Dillon Cook, Landon Cook, Nolan Swank, Logan Walker, Nathan Bailey and Jase Walker; and a host of extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Teresa Walker; granddaughter, Anna Grace Chang; and three sisters, Vivian Spear, Wanda Sharpe and Verda Wear.
Rev. Walker attended Central Bible College in Springfield and became an ordained minister. He was a pastor at Lighthouse Assembly in Salem for many years.
