Funeral service for Virginia “Dorlene” (Major) Blankenship was March 22, 2023 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Ronnie Blankenship shared the eulogy.
Interment was in the Licking Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Blankenship, Brian Blankenship, Jason Blankenship, Mathen Givens, Kevin Blankenship and Kris Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers were Mathew Givens, Tom Ard and Jereme Patton.
Mrs. Blankenship was born May 4, 1936 in Boss to Glen and Verna (Pyatt) Major. She married Bobby “Bob” Jean Blankenship August 9, 1952. Mrs. Blankenship died March 19, 2023 in Salem at the age of 86 years.
Survivors include her children, Bob Blankenship and wife, Cathy, Kimberling City; Ronnie Blankenship and wife, Gaye Lynn, Salem; Karen Givens and husband, Art, Salem; Steve Blankenship and wife, Cathy, Licking; and Daniel Blankenship, Salem; daughter-in-law, Brenda Blankenship, Salem; sister, Donna Nelson and husband, Ivan, Salem; grandchildren, Brad Blankenship and wife, Tiffany; Brian Blankenship and wife, Britinie; Carrie Patton and husband, Jereme; Jason Blankenship and wife, Shannon; Ashley Sullins; Mathen Givens and wife, Mandy; Mathew Givens and fiancée, Kimberly; Tera Becklenberg and husband, Aaron; Kevin Blankenship and wife, Tiffany; Desirae Owens and husband, Toby; and Kristopher Blankenship and wife, Cassie; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren with two on-the-way; and a host of extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband; son, David Blankenship; parents; brothers, James Major and Darrel Major; and sister, Rita Melton.
