Funeral service for Mabel Lorene (Butler) Curtis was December 15, 2016 at Second Baptist Church, Salem, with Pastor Larry Nash officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem.

Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Jeffs, Bradley Flynn, Patrick Flynn, Clint Boerckel, Scott Blanchard and Darren Roback. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Wakefield and Andrew Bannister.
Mrs. Curtis was born August 27, 1927 in Dent County to Roy Dewey and Ollie Esther (Bell) Butler. She married Oscar Harold Curtis November 7, 1945. They were the parents of three children. Mrs. Curtis died December 12, 2016 in Salem at the age of 89 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Gwendolyn Wakefield and husband, Larry, Salem; Karen Jeffs and husband, Kenneth, Chesterfield; grandchildren, Angela Boerckel and husband, Clint; Deanna Blanchard and husband, Scott; Kimberly Roback and husband, Darren; great-grandchildren, Andrew Bannister and wife, Karizma; Bradley Flynn; Patrick Flynn; Taylor Wakefield and special friend, Robbie Ruble; Olivia Roback; great-great-grandson, Colton Ruble; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; sisters, Violet Garrett and Velma Baker; brother, Austin Butler; infant daughter, Sandra Lorene Curtis; and grandson, Jason Wakefield.
Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
