Funeral service for Thela May (Plank) Cooksey was March 3, 2017 at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Salem, with Pastor Jody Dickhut officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem.
Music was provided by her brothers.
Interment was in the Cooksey Cemetery, Salem.
Pallbearers were Don Plank, Bill Plank, Haden Plank, Carl Plank, Gary Plank, Kenneth Plank, and Richard Plank. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Kropp, Perry Mahling, Steven Warnement, Anthony Mahling, Cody Bergner and Brent Bell.
Mrs. Cooksey was born August 6, 1930 in Madison, Ill., to Harry and Sylvia (Lancaster) Plank. She married Irvin B. Cooksey Sr. January 3, 1949. They were the parents of three children. Mrs. Cooksey died February 26, 2017 in St. Louis at the age of 86 years.
Survivors include her husband, Irvin Cooksey Sr., Salem; children, Thela June (Cooksey) Kropp; Alma (Cooksey) Mehling and husband, David; Irvin Cooksey Jr. and Karen (Mehling) Cooksey; brothers, Don Plank and wife, Ida; Bill Plank; Haden Plank and wife, Mary Lou; Carl Plank and wife, Glenda; Gary Plank and wife, Carol; Kenneth Plank and wife, Linda; Richard Plank and wife, Carol; sisters, Alma Kelly and husband, Ralph; Verna Bullock; Ruth Ladd and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Edward, Perry, Susie, Anna, Edna and Sylvia; great-grandchildren, Tom, Allie, Brad, Dylan, Ryan, Anthony, Justin, Jordan, Nick, Mason, Shane, Cody, Lizzie, Olivia and Emma; great-great-grandchildren, Amelia, Lily, Kera and Scarlett; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Paul, Curtis, Melvin; sisters, Janice and Rose; son-in-law, Edward Kropp.
