Graveside service for Bonnie Cookson, of Viburnum, was December 12, 2020 at Barton Cemetery, Oates, with daughter, Tonya Tanner speaking. Arrangements were under the direction of James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem.
Mr. Cookson was born October 17, 1939 in Pexico to Aaron Joseph and Irene (Wagner) Cookson. He married Verla Barton March 20, 1965. They were the parents of two children. Mr. Cookson died December 6, 2020 in Clarksville, Tennessee, at the age of 81 years.
Survivors include his children, Bryan Cookson and wife, December, Villa Ridge; and Tonya Tanner and husband, Rickie, Clarksville, Tennessee; brothers, Pete Cookson, Harold Cookson and Duane Cookson; sisters, Freda Alexander and Kathleen, all of St. Louis; grandchildren, Hayley Gillen and husband, Justin; Brook Cookson and Josh Short; Kate Cookson; Baillie Tanner; Alexis Cookson; Rhett Tanner; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mr. Cookson served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Viburnum.
