Funeral service for Freddie "Jack" Jacobs was June 2, 2011 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Bro. W.E. Ferguson and Dr. Tom Hover officiating.

Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery escorted by The Patriot Guard Riders and with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Jackie and Warren Lough, Jim Harris, Gene Kinley, Greg Gorman and Daniel Lakin. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Jacobs was born February 11, 1924 in Gladden to Freddie Lawrence and Lillie Frances (Jones) Jacobs. He married Opal Imogene Lewis December 16, 1946. They were the parents of three children. Mr. Jacobs died May 29, 2011 in St. Louis at the age of 87 years.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Jacobs, Salem; three children, Christine Jacobs, Affton; Sherry Hutson and husband, David, Fenton; and Steven Jacobs, High Ridge; two brothers, David Jacobs, Ballwin; and Paul "Kermit" Jacobs, Salem; one granddaughter, Angela Kniffen, Washington; three great-grandchildren, Alicia Goebel, Washington; and Steven and Jared Goebel, Cuba; five nieces, Aleta Thistlethwaite; June Jacobs; Karen Hand and husband, Greg; Susan Stone; Melinda Gorman and husband, Greg; and three nephews, Jackie Lough, Warren Lough; Bobby Jacobs; a host of extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Opal Lough and husband, Leo; brother, William "Bud" Jacobs and wife, Cleo; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Jacobs and Louise Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a charter member of VFW Post 6280, Salem. He served in the Army during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater.
