Funeral service for Gladys Opal (Benson) Ward Sells was January 3, 2020 at New Life Free Will Baptist Church, Licking, with Rev. Darius Wentz officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Fox Funeral Home, Licking.
Interment was in the Cavaness Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stacy Ward, Doug Ward, Devon Ward, Bob Ogden, Scott Ogden and Kim “Ed” Corder.
Mrs. Sells was born September 19, 1920 in Raftville to Clarence Edward “C.E.” and Elsie Mae (Kimrey) Benson. She married James Edward “Ed” Ward October 21, 1938. They were the parents of two children. She later married William Clinton “Bill” Sells June 23, 1978. Mrs. Sells died December 31, 2019 in Licking at the age of 99 years.
Survivors include her son, Lonnie and wife, Reggia, Licking; grandchildren, Pam Ogden and husband, Bob, Springfield; Stacy Ward and wife, Mindy, Marthasville; Doug Ward, Republic; great-grandchildren, Scott Ogden, O’Fallon; Elisa Jaouni and husband, Yusif, Marysville, Ohio; Cassidy Kilpack and husband, Jared, St. Charles; Devon Ward and Carle Ward, Republic; sister, Virginia Ruth (Benson) Corder, Salem; and a host of extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her daughter, Mary Edith; parents; husbands; brothers, Wilmer Clarence “W.C.”, and Mack Benson; infant sisters, Ruby Gladys and Thelma Pauline.
Mrs. Sells was active at New Life Free Will Baptist Church and Cavaness/Faith and Hope Church. She was a board member of the Cavaness Cemetery Board and Boiling Springs Improvement Association.
