Mr. Cooper was born March 12, 1934 in Hall Summitt, Louisiana, to Charles Edward and Verna Mae (Halbrook) Cooper. He married Patsy Carmack October 7, 1968. He was the father of one son. Mr. Cooper died February 3, 2025 in Salem at the age of 90 years.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Cooper, Salem; son, Wesley Cooper, Springfield; brother, Gary Cooper and wife, Verna, Salem; sister, Beverly Millsap and husband, Gene, Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant sister, Barbara; father and mother-in-law, Bud and Mary Carmack; and sister-in-law, Sandra Schafer.
Mr. Cooper served in the Army National Guard.
