Survivors include his mother, Beverly Powell, Salem; wife, Debra Powell, Kiln; sons, William Jr. and wife, Trinity, Kiln; and Matthew Powell and wife, Kayla, Bay St. Louis; grandchildren, Will, Ellie and Trent; Matthew Jr. and Fisher; brother, Dr. Haydn Powell Jr. and wife, Rose, Salem; sisters, Kay Revelle, Linn Creek; Cheryl Lough, Salem; and Jeanne Trimmer and husband, Marc, Scottsdale, Arz.; and a host of nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.

Preceding him in death was his father, Dr. Haydn Powell.
