Unused prescription medications have the potential to cause poisoning, overdose or drug abuse. They can harm the water supply if flushed down the drain, and they take up space in medicine chests and drawers. Solution: discard any unused prescription medications at Dent County’s Drug Take Back Day Saturday.

“This is the third time that Dent County will be participating in Drug Take Back Day,” states George Gruendel, chairman of the Healthy Dent County Prevention Coalition. “Our April event was very successful. Approximately 154 pounds of unused medications were collected. On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, we will have two locations, one in the Walmart parking lot and the other at Country Mart. Participants can simply drive up to the patrol car and hand the medications to the officer or Healthy Dent County Coalition member. We are grateful to the Dent County Sheriff’s Department and the Salem Police Department for being part of this effort.”
