Candidate filing for the April 8, 2025 municipal election began today (Tuesday) at 8 a.m. for a variety of board seats, including the City of Salem Board of Aldermen which features a grand total of three seats up for the taking. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley instructs prospective candidates to file with their respective political subdivisions. Filing for the election is to close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31.
ELECTIONS
City of Salem
• East ward alderman—Two-year term
• West ward alderman—Two-year term
• East ward alderman—One-year unexpired term
Aldermen must be 21 years of age, U.S. citizen, resident of the city for at least one year before the election, resident of the ward in which they are elected, may not be in arrears of any charges owed to the city, and must be a registered voter. The filing fee is $25.00.
No person shall qualify as a candidate for elective public office in Missouri who has been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony under the federal laws of the United States of America or to a felony under the laws of this state or an offense committed in another state that would be considered a felony in this state.
City of Bunker
• Alderman—Two-year term

Interested candidates may fill names and desired office with the city clerk no earlier than 8:30 a.m., Dec. 10 through 5:00 p.m., Dec. 31.
Salem Memorial Hospital Board of Directors
• Director-District Six – One-year term
• Director-District One – Five-year term
• Director-District Three – Three-year term
Candidates must be 30 years of age, U.S. citizen, voters of the election district of which they are a candidate and resided within the state for one-year preceding the election.
Declaration of Candidacy should be filed with the Secretary of the Board of Directors, Administration Office at Salem Memorial District Hospital, between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Dent County Health Center Board of Trustees:
• Board member—Four-year term
Anyone wishing to file for this position must appear in person at the Dent County Health Center during regular business hours. Filing will close 4:30 p.m., Dec. 31.
Public Water Supply District #4

Any qualified voter of Public Water Supply District #4, a political sub-division of Texas County, may file a form “Declaration of Candidate.” Interested candidates may contact Brenda Swearengin located at 11899 Highway 137, Licking, between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. SCHOOL BOARDS
According to the Missouri School Boards’ Association website, a school board member in Missouri must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 24 years old, a resident taxpayer of a district or voter, and be a resident of Missouri and their respective district for at least one year.
Candidates must also be current on state and local taxes, have not been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony under Missouri or federal law, have not registered or been required to register as a sex offender, and have filed required campaign documents for all previous campaigns, if any.

Filing will not occur on days the school district’s central offices are closed due to inclement weather. The office will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Dec. 31.
