Dent County Commission had previously closed availability of CARES act funding based upon preliminary estimates of pre-approved CARES fund applications, but presiding commissioner Darrell Skiles said during Monday’s regular meeting that they didn’t want to make people go through the hassle of filling out the applications if the money was already spoken for. However, upon further assessment the commission realized that there was still money available for public applications of small businesses and public entities in Dent County.
Also at Monday’s commission meeting:
• Skiles proposed that the commission approve his proposal that the county begin accepting bids for the overall evaluation of courthouse grounds.
• District One Commissioner Dennis Purcell reported that the grader in the Bunker area will be repaired and grading is scheduled for county roads 6110 and 5615, also materials will be hauled to 4080 and brush will be removed along 5610.
• District Two commissioner Gary Larson reported that grading is scheduled for 2110, 5330 and 2010; brush will be hauled from along 2403.
• County Clerk Angie Curley reported about a letter sent by District 39 State Representative Peggy McGaugh to Dent County applauding its efficiency on Election Day. Curley also stated that she is continuing to work on the budget for 2021.
• Also at the meeting during public comments, Matt Presti approached the commission about approving a permit for a patriotic rally to be held Dec. 12 in front of the Dent County Courthouse. Presti said that he was in communication with people at the Missouri GOP in an attempt to provide keynote speakers at the event.
Additionally, Dent County Assessor Jamie Homeyer last week announced additional ways to file yearly assessment forms, including online submission, two courthouse drop boxes, and mailing forms. Forms will be sent the week of Dec. 16.
