Salem High School senior Kayla Gott was named Miss Salem 2011 during the 60th annual Cosmopolitan Club Variety Show Saturday evening at the Salem City Hall auditorium.
The theme for the show was "Memories."
2010 Miss Salem Rachel Arts crowned Gott, the daughter of Vickie and Donald Lawson and Lennie Gott. She was sponsored by The Bank of Salem.
First runner-up honor went to Kayce Webber, daughter of Paul Webber and the late Pam Webber. She was sponsored by Vandivort Drug.
Second runner-up honor went to Samantha Riley. She is the daughter of Gary Riley and the late Jonetta Riley. She was sponsored by C&E Auto.
Miss Personality Award went to Kala Trolinger, daughter of Floyd and Laura Trolinger. She was sponsored by Quiktan.
Cosmopolitan Club President and program narrator Catherine Dent announced winners.
Each contestant received gift certificates from local merchants. Winners receive gift certificates and flowers donated by local florists.
Each girl was escorted to the front of the stage, where they picked a question that they had to give an impromptu answer to after Dent read it to them.
Other contestants and their sponsors included:

* Chandra Sullins, by Shear Edge;
* Jodie Happel, by Dr. Wayne Bertz;
* Ashley Greenshields, by B&B Auto;
* Chandler Parks, by Ad-Par Construction;
* Joy Malott, by Salem Residential Care;
* Ashley LaRue, by Shear Edge;
* Natasha Rice, by Powell Chiropractic;
* Bailey Barnes, by Southtown Furniture.
Master of Ceremonies was David Massengale. The judges were from out of town. Massengale did a live interview with Arts, and she talked about her year's reign as Miss Salem.
Proceeds from the annual show go to community projects sponsored by the Cosmopolitan Club.
Flower Girl was Cayleigh Moody, and Crown Bearer was Bryce Stewart.
Past Miss Salem winners who were present each were introduced and recognized.
Escorts included Blake Beeson, Jonathan Hambacker, Lane Howard and Kevin Presley.
Presentation of the American flag was by members of the American Legion. Featured entertainment included comedy acts by the Cosmopolitan Club and Seidel Club; three dance performances by the Salem Academy of Dance, directed by Linda Maledy; Emily Hanning, vocals; a comedy sketch by Curt Murr; and music by Michael Connors.
Proceeds from the annual show go to community projects sponsored by the Cosmopolitan Club.
Winners received gifts, savings bonds and gift certificates from merchants. Each contestant also received a gift and flowers donated by florists.
